Obituary for Vertis Riser
Vertis Renee Riser was born on March 3, 1964, in Marshall, Texas to Harold Riser, Sr. and Sammie Lee Lane Riser. She attended Marshall public schools and graduated Marshall High School class of 1982.
Vertis’s love of children was evident in her work as special education aide with Dallas Independent School District. She worked with elementary school and middle school age children for 25 years until a leave of absence was taken due to health-related issues.
Vertis filled her life with events around family and friends. She took trips to the casino, played cards, loved to cook, delighted everyone with her joke telling, and satisfied their hunger with her good cooking.
Vertis affiliated with the River of Life Church, DsSoto, Texas.
She is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Maxine Riser Williams; brothers, Freddie Riser, Terry Riser, and Charles Riser.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Garron Romon Riser and Prenetria ReaLee Riser; sisters, Helen Riser, Debra Riser, and Della Riser Williams; brothers, Harold Riser, Jr., Raymond Riser, Harry Riser, and Ronnie Riser; many nieces and nephews; like a daughter niece, Samantha Williams; best friends, Gwendolyn Brooks, Staci Taylor, Vicki H. and Jean.
Vertis passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at her home on October 17, 2022 in Dallas, Texas.
