Obituary for Timothy Reed Sr.
Timothy Dean Reed Sr. was born August 20,1949 in Brownwood, Texas to Kelly Miller Reed Sr. and Para Washington Reed.
Timothy was educated in Brownwood Public School system and graduated from Brownwood High School. After high school, he completed two years of education at Wiley College, Marshall, Texas.
Timothy was married to Jeanette Wilson and moved to Dallas, Texas where he was employed with St. Regis Paper Company. In his early thirties he obtained his barber's license. Later, he obtained certifications in water treatment and started his ultimate career path in the city water treatment plants of Dallas, Texas and Shreveport, Louisiana advancing to a supervisory position. Continuing his career path, he moved to Atlanta, Georgia where he gained employment in the water treatment plant of Lawrenceville, Georgia. Later in his career, he was Facility Environmental Manager for 18 years at Tyson Foods, Inc. until his retirement.
Timothy was baptized at the age of 12 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Brownwood, Texas by Rev. Leon Jackson. For over 23 years, he was a member of Baptist Bible Fellowship in Shreveport, Louisiana under the leadership of Rev. James Jenkins. Timothy served his church in several capacities which included serving on the Deacon Board; director of Vacation Bible School; member of the Community Outreach Team, Men’s Huddle, and the Nursing Home Ministry.
Timothy’s hobbies included attending the Longview Lobos football games, fishing, hunting, playing tennis, being in nature especially visiting the giant Redwood trees and various islands. He also loved supporting his children and grandchildren in their various activities.
Timothy is preceded in death by his father, Kelly Miller Reed, Sr. and mother, Para Washington Reed; his wife of 53 years, Jeanette Wilson Reed and his brother, Kelly Miller Reed Jr..
Timothy leaves to cherish his memory: two daughters and one son; Eve Reed Hill (Kirdric), Timothy D. Reed Jr. (Beverly), and Denitra Reed ;grandchildren, Jaelyn Reed, Evan Aolani Hill, Kyndall Reed, and Kaeson Hill; honorary granddaughters, Nylah Mundy and Anaiyah McGill; 2 sisters and 2 brothers, Rose Reed, Gloria Reed Austin (Jim), Noel Reed Sr. (Mattie) and Sheldon Reed (Idamar); sister-in-law, Gloria Reed; 4 brothers-in-law, Oscar Wilson (Latitia), Joe Wilson (Carol), Perry Wilson (Rosalind), and Jerry Wilson; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
