Theartis Gooch was born in Marshall, Texas on February 26, 1952 to Jewel and Lorenza Gooch and transitioned on Sunday, July 11, 2021 in Baylor Hospital, Dallas, Texas. He attended Marshall schools and graduated Marshall High School Class of 1971. He furthered his education at Kilgore Junior College, Kilgore, Texas.
For many years, Theartis worked as a Chemical Analyst for Witco Chemical.
Theartis filled his life with many interests. He was an avid farmer of vegetables and raised livestock. He also enjoyed building things, particularly using welding techniques. Restoring cars was also one of his favorite pastimes.
Theartis is preceded in death by his brother, Alonso Gooch.
Theartis is survived by his wife, Rosita Gooch, of Marshall, Texas; children, Tamica (Michel) Gooch-Daniels of Houston, Texas, Isaac (Shannon) Gooch of Mansfield, Texas, Helen “Danshell” (Rydell) Gibson of Las Vegas, NV, Tamara (Matthew) Caine of Houston, Texas and Jonathan (Shawnetta) Gooch of Longview, Texas; nine grandchildren; siblings, Welton Gooch, Myron Gooch, Alfonso Gooch, Rubye Gooch, Shirley (Frank) Reed, Lorenza (Dina) Gooch, Lovera (Milton) Murphy;a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
