Obituary for Susie White (Boyd)

Susie Lee Boyd White was born April 21, 1936 in Norlina, North Carolina to Alvin Boyd Sr. and Louise Shearin Boyd.
She was reared in a Christian home. In her youthful years she attended White’s Grove Baptist Church of her hometown, Norlina, North Carolina.

After graduating from Warren Training School in 1953, which later became known as North Warren High School in Wise, North, Carolina.

She then left home and went to live in New York and took on various jobs. Being a kind-hearted person that she was, who had helped her mother take care of her younger siblings.

She began her journey as a domestic worker taking care of other children. Later she would move on and work for a printing company in White Plains, NY.

While living in New York, she met Ernest White (Jim) a child being born she loved him an her. She then married him on December 24, 1965.

She carried her little girl whom the lord had blessed her with, to her mother Louise Boyd who helped and loved her, along with the rest of the family known as “The Boyd Family” of Norlina, NC. Who are still by her side this very day.

In 1974 her husband (Jim) made a decision to move the family to Texas. Susie then joined him along with their daughter Sherry in 1975.

The both of them decided to purchase the old sambo store located on the corner of Van Zandt and Evans - which they changed the name to Whites Grocery. From 1977-1987 they ran the business together until his untimely death. She then continued to run the business until her retirement in 1997.

And also, these are the people who helped her in trying times they are gone but not forgotten, Billy Arnic, Ethel Brown, Mr. & Mrs. Wilbert Williams, Rev. L.C. Harris, and Ms. Reese Brown.

She now joins the rest of those who preceded her in death Ernest White (husband) Alvin Boyd Sr. (father) Louise Shearin Boyd (Mother) Louise B. Toney (sister).

She leaves behind her daughter Sherry L. Williams (Rickey); grandchildren, Derek Webb, Brittney Webb, Ricquan Williams; great-grandchildren, Khloe Manning, Harmonie Togba; six brothers Alvin Boyd Jr., Walter Boyd Sr. (Irene), Frank Boyd Sr., George Boyd, Wilbert Boyd Sr. (Mamie), and Eddie Boyd (Carolyn); two sisters, Florine Boyd and Sylvia Jones; a sister-n-law, Verdine Smith of Los Angeles, CA, a host of nieces, nephew, and other relatives and friends.
