Obituary for Paul Bennett

On May 17, 2021, a loving and beloved husband, father, uncle and friend, Paul L. Bennett went home to be with the Lord. With his demise comes the end of a era, as he was preceded in death by his parents and all of his siblings.

Paul Lawrence grew up in the Port Caddo Community of Marshall. He accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized and nurtured in the Baptist faith in St. Paul Baptist Church. A lifelong member of St. Paul, he served in the Sunday School, on the Usher Board and the Deacon Board, and wherever he could be of service.

He attended Marshall Public Schools and graduated with H.B. Pemberton High School’s Class of 1954.

He entered the world of work at Atlas Powder Company (DARCO) before graduating from high school. He often spoke of how he had to help his mother and family at the tender age of eleven due to the death of his father. Paul retired from the same job after 44 years of service.

He loved the outdoors and took great pride raising vegetables to share with family and friends. His other passion was caring for his yard and surroundings.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of nearly 64 years, Carolyn; his daughter Linda (Deryl) Rollins, and many nieces and nephews who were his “other” children.

Servant of God, Well Done!
