Obituary for Otha Sandifer Sr.

Otha Lee Sandifer, Sr. was born on May 26, 1958, to Otha Luther Sandifer and Mary Louise Brown. On Tuesday, September 20, 2022, God called him into eternal rest; no more sickness, no more pain.

Otha attended Marshall Public Schools. He was an electrician for 48 years, doing work all over Marshall, Texas, and various other states. If there was an electrical problem, his motto was, “If it’s broke, I can fix it.”

Otha loved watching movies and roller skating. He couldn’t dance but give him a pair of roller skates with rubber wheels and he could skate better than anyone you ever met that wasn’t a professional skater.

He married Diana L. Sandifer. To this union two children, Otha L. Sandifer, Jr. and Shantae Sandifer were born.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandmother, Viola LeBruce; and brother, Jerry Don Jackson.

He leaves to cherish his memory, a mate of 26 years, Ms. Meveline Brown; a son, Otha L.“Ojae” (Kanisha) Sandifer, Jr.; their children, Omari Sandifer and Kamden Sandifer all of Mesquite, Texas; a daughter, Shantae Sandifer; her children, Trenton Sandifer and Katelyn Johnson; one great-grandson, Syre Gray Sandifer all of The Colony, Texas; two sisters, Brenda (Ronnie) Braggs, Sr. of Houston, Texas, Ruddi (Adolphus) Barnett, Jr. of Marshall, Texas; brother, Ronald (Rita) Jackson of Marshall, Texas; aunt, Josephine Elam of Dallas, Texas; uncle, Alton LeBruce, Jr. of Marshall, Texas; special friends, Tony Jackson, Calvin Johnson, Dewayne Marsh; favorite nephews, Corey Jackson, Christopher Jackson and Ronnie Braggs, Jr.; favorite nieces, Brittney Gooch and Chandra Dunn; many other relatives and friends.
