Obituary for Melba Beane (Spencer)

Melba Spencer Beane was born August 20, 1941, to the late John W. and Mary Spencer in Harrison County, Texas.
She attended school in Harrison County, Texas. She accepted Christ and was baptized at the Lotta Church of God in Christ, where she served in different ministries for many years. She also attended Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church, where she served for over 20 years. She was employed at Rainbow Floral in Marshall, TX 60 plus years arranging flowers, making deliveries, and ministering to the customers she met. She was once quoted saying in the Marshall News Messenger, “I was telling God, I said ‘God, I thank you for the paycheck, and I thank you for the job, but it’s not just a job, it’s a ministry.” She also worked part time as a Seasonal Decorator for the Brownrigg Insurance Agency.

She was preceded in death by the late Leroy Ruffin; two children, Wesley Lane, and Rosetta Spencer, and three brothers, John W. Spencer Jr., John Henry Spencer, and Curtis Spencer.

She leaves to cherish her memories, husband Franklin Beane; three sons, William P. Ruffin of Waskom, Texas, Allen D. Ruffin (Cynthia) of Tyler, Texas, and Tony M. Ruffin (Sandra) of Tyler, Texas; Two Step sons, Rashia Walton and Shawn Cooks; Two grandchildren, Avery N. Ruffin of Tyler, Texas, Demarcus Thompson of Tyler, Texas; One great grandchild, Dillon Thompson; Three sisters, Lois Spencer of Hurst, Texas, Joyce Bennett of Beaumont, Texas, Doris Davidson of Karnack, Texas; Three brothers, Charles Spencer of Karnack, Texas, Larry Spencer of Karnack, Texas, Terry Spencer of Beaumont, Texas; Four God daughters, Christa Love Sharp, Jamie Donson, Francell Gilliam, and Mareen Esters Booker; Special Niece, Brianna Thomas and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
