Obituary for Mark Allen

On November 29, 1957, Mark Anthony Allen was number ten of 17 children born to Olden and Earline Allen. There was never a dull moment growing up in beautiful piney woods of Marshall, Texas with plenty of love, fun, adventure and faith. Mark professed his faith in Christ at a young age; and was baptized into the family of believers at Paradise Baptist Church. He had a lifelong passion for fishing, hunting, drag racing and tinkering with old cars.

Mark attended Marshall Public Schools graduating from Marshall High School in 1976. While attending high school, he became interested in agriculture and computer technology, which led him to a data entry position as a Vocational Occupation Education (VOE) student. After graduating, he attended Dallas Technical Institute. Having become skilled in the art of computer engineering, Mark continued his education at Kilgore Junior College receiving an Associate Degree in Computer Science.

Mark began his career in computer technology with Aluminum Corporation of America (ALCOA) in Marshall, Texas. He later moved his family to Dallas, Texas to broaden his career as a Network Engineer at Electronic Data Systems (EDS). Mark’s career in the tech industry spanned 45 years.

If you asked Mark, his greatest accomplishment wasn’t his tech legacy or his career. It was being a husband, Dad and Poppi. Mark and his wife, Pheobia Clough Allen began their lifelong love affair in 1975 when her friend told him that she had a secret crush on him. Married for 40 years, their love grew to include their sons Anthony and Marc and grandchildren Amalia, D’Averion and Ashon. Together the faith and adventures continued. Mark was an active member of Friendship Baptist Church in the Colony, TX.

After a lengthy illness, Mark entered into the eternal presence of Christ on October 20, 2022. His parents and siblings Linda, Bonita and Donald welcomed him upon his arrival.

Mark is survived by his wife Pheobia; sons Anthony Montaire and Marc Ashton (Kateia); grandchildren Amalia, D’Averion and Ashon; brothers, Willie Allen (Erma), Gil Allen (Emma), Les Allen, Rex Allen (Lonzetta), Edward Allen, Marcus Allen (Jewel), Leslie Allen (Vickie) and Meredith Allen; sisters, Jewel Smith, Gloria Black , Marilyn White (Essie), Andrette Smith and Amanda Petties (Zachary); brother-in-law, Estress Williams (Michelle); sisters-in-law, Sythia Gaut (Willie), Rosalyn Clough, Arleater Forest (Barrie); godchildren, M’Kori Wilson, Willisa Gaut and Jackson Knox; many other relatives and friends who will miss his presence and personality.
