Obituary for Jewel Allen

On April 06, 2021, Jewel Edward Allen said his final farewell and went home to be with God. He was born on May 22, 1957 in Marshall, Texas to the late Rufus Albert and Johnnie Faye Allen, a veteran and retired Railroad Worker and a Business woman and Nurses Aide. Both parents proceeded him in death.

Jewel accepted Christ at Mt. Zion Spiritual Church at a very early age and renewed his commitment to Christ as an adult.
In 1975, Jewel graduated from Marshall High School where he was the first Afro-American to receive the Y A Tittle Award and was a VIP wide receiver in Football. He received a full scholarship from Jackson State University where he played football as a wide receiver. He was offered the position of Wide Receiver with the Houston Oilers, but declined to play leaving his football career behind.

Jewel was Blessed to be survived by five children: daughters, Aphrodite ( Leonard) Jenkins Manvel, Houston, TX; Angelica Fitzgerald, Washington State; son, Justin Allen, Houston, TX their mother, Angerlene Granderson, Houston, Texas; daughter, Lillie Marie Walker; Houston, TX and son, Gerry Demond Walker; their mother Everly Terrece Walker proceeded him in death.
Ten grand children: TyShun King, Tiana Smith, Joanna Graham, Haigion Walker Deboest, Alyssa Jenkins, Amber Jenkins, Ethan Fitzgerald, Audrey Fitzgerald, Avery Allen and Lela Mae Allen.

Jewel was the ninth child of of nine children of which two brothers; Will Ura Allen and Lee Arthur Allen and one sister, Mary Ann Jones proceeded him in death.
He leaves to cherish his memory: three brothers, Armistice Ray Allen, Sr., Preston Allen and Pastor Sylvester Roy Allen, Marshall, TX. Two sisters Jerdine ( Percy) Williams, Fulshear, TX; Pamela Lue Jackson, Marshall, TX and and host of nieces, nephews, aunts, cousins, friends and a special friend Arlene Okra, Marshall TX.
