Obituary for Jerry James

Minister Jerry Gerome James made his grand entrance into the world on March 9, 1939. He was the youngest child of four children to Lorenza and Mary Law James in Dallas, Texas. He passed away Thursday, November 24, 2022 in
his home.

Jerry received Christ at an early age at Mount Mariah Baptist Church. Some years later, he joined Greenwood Acres Full Gospel Baptist Church. He was a faithful member until his calling home to be with the Lord.

Upon graduating from H.B. Pemberton High School in 1957, Marshall, Texas, Jerry continued his education in the United States Marine Corps. He served for 26 years including 2 tours of Vietnam. After serving in the Marine Corps for so many years, Jerry decided to retire.

Jerry was an all-around person. He loved people and believed in serving and working in his community. He served and worked in many capacities. To name a few; the oil field, paraprofessional and bus driver for Marshall Independent School District, Wonderland of Lights Tour bus driver, owner of Cellular Phone Store, Marine Corps Institute, Washington, DC, Tactics of Marine Corps Rifle Squad, Drill Instructor, San Diego, and California Recruiter.

He was preceded in death by his father, Lorenza James, mother, Mary Law James; two brothers, Kermit James, Wade James; and one sister, Lillie Mae James.

His memory will be cherished by his loving wife, Georgia Ruth James, Scottsville, Texas; one daughter, Bridget James, Bolingbrook, Illinois; three sons, Michael Wilson, Sr., Waco, Texas; Orestus Jackson, Jr., Marshall, Texas; Patrick Jackson, Sr., (Kristy) Scottsville, Texas; grandchildren, Christopher, Michael, Jr., Michael Y., Leola, Patrick, Jr., Corey, Teliyah, Marcus, Telisha, a special granddaughter, Brittani Kimble, sisters-in-law, Bessie Stuart, Lillie Reed, Barbara Brooks (Abe); brother-in-law, Andrew Chambers (Sebrena); nephew, Reverend Charles James, and a host of other relatives and friends.
