Obituary for James Harvey Ward Sr.

James Harvey Ward, Sr. was born on July 28, 1946, to Allen Ward, Sr. and Ora Lee Brookins in Marshall, Texas. He completed his education in Marshall public schools. Eager to embark upon favorable employment opportunities after completing high school, James began working at Darco. He held various positions, with numerous responsibilities. He remained with the company for many years.

James loved his family and the fullness of life he felt being around them. They enjoyed outdoor activities like fishing and going out to share delicious meals together. Football season was another reason for family to gather. James was an enthusiastic Dallas Cowboys fan. Rarely, did he ever miss watching a Cowboys football game on television. He was a, “True Blue, Ride or Die, Fan for Life”.

James had a beautiful relationship with God. He led and maintained a Christian lifestyle by continuously seeking growth and insight into Christ’s love. He did this through prayer, fellowship and attending worship services at various local churches.

Surrounded by his family in Marshall, Texas, James departed this earthly life for his heavenly home on October 14, 2022.
Preceding James in death are his parents; his wife, Joann Ward; brothers, Allen Ward, Jr. and Herbert Ward; and sister, Rosie Jean Bush.

Mourning his loss and cherishing his memory are his children, Anethra Ward and James Harvey Ward, Jr.; brother, Eddie Ward; sisters, Annie Ruth Ward, Sharon Ward, Cynthia (Earnest) Woolridge, Dorothy Ward, and Ruby Jewel Ward; special friend, Annette S. Minneweather; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
