Obituary for Gladys Reese

Gladys V. Reese was born September 12, 1929 in Rusk County to Beulah and James Reese of Tatum, Texas. Gladys was a member of Smith Chapel Baptist Church, where she accepted Christ at an early age, was baptized, and was a faithful and true believer in Jesus Christ. She attended School in Tatum, Texas.

Gladys loved to entertain family and friends; that was her way of keeping everyone connected. She was a peacemaker; she always promoted justice, fairness and understanding among family members and friends, sprinkled with lots of compassion and love.

Gladys is preceded in death by her parents, Beulah and James Reese; daughter, Everene Lacy-Reese (Sue); siblings, James L. Reese and Willie Bell Culpepper.

Gladys leaves behind to cherish her memories: a sister, Irene Alford; grandchildren, Kevin Cullough (Bridget “B”), and Shannon Dixson; great grandchildren, Brandie Hill, Tracie Hill, Patricia Sanders, Samantha Sanders, Justin Sanders, Sharhonda McCullough, London McCullough, LaTasha Hayes, Bobby Johnson, Jr., Yusuf Johnson, and Taj Baker; great-great grandchildren, DayJus Hill, JerJuan Flakes, Terrence Webb, Joseph Thomas II, Eli Sanders, Joseph Manuel, Skylar Davis, Aiden Johnson, Celina Johnson, Sania Manuel, Messiah Manuel, Jalen Thomas, and Brielle Hayes; nieces/nephews, Henry Peat Alford III, Katrena Alford, Andrea Alford, Chevaun Alford-McCray, Trinity McCray, Ronald Taylor, Roderick Taylor, Christopher Taylor, Dennis Taylor, DeAnna Taylor, and Reginald Taylor, Jr.
