Obituary for Eric Carter

Mr. Eric Dewayne Carter was born on November 9, 1973 in Marshall, Texas, to Arthur Conrad Carter, II and Bobbie Sterling Carter. He attended Marshall Independent School District where he graduated with the “Class of 1992.” He was baptized at an early age at St. Mary Baptist Church, Marshall, Texas. He grew up in Marshall, Texas and later made Longview, Texas his home. He was employed by Komatsu, formerly known as LeTourneau, where he worked as a forklift driver.

He married Tamika Taylor on November 9, 2004 and soon became the stepfather of her three daughters; Latifa, Shamika and TaTyana. Eric always had a calm and quiet spirit. He was kind-hearted, generous, and always enjoyed being with his family. As a pastime he enjoyed travelling. During football season, he loved cheering for his number one team, the Dallas Cowboys.

Eric departed his life on Thursday, September 9, 2021 at Longview Regional Hospital in Longview, Texas. He leaves to mourn his passing, his loving wife, Tamika Taylor Carter of Longview, Texas; mother, Bobbie Carter; three step-daughters, Latifa, Shamika, and TaTyana; five step-grandchildren, Khole, Amira, Troymichael, III, Amaya, and Ja’Kayden; brothers, Delvine Carter (Natasha), Damon Carter (Kimisha); a sister, Keiya Carter; brother-in-law, Thomas Taylor; sister-in-laws, Myrtle Jackson, Cheryl Stancill, Cashawna Taylor and LaQuna Rusk; uncles, Nolan Carter of Marshall, Texas and Troy Carter of Longview, Texas; aunts, Patsy Sneed (Joe) of Grand Prairie, Texas, Jeanie Mae Shiner, Josephine Yancy and Bessie Teague of Marshall, Texas, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his father, Arthur Conrad Carter; grand-fathers, Arthur Carter, Jr. and Mack Sterling; grandmothers, Mary Lois Carter and Hattie Mae Reeves; and aunt, Sharon Carter.
