Obituary for Edwin McGilvery

Edwin “Ed” Jasper McGilvery was born to the late Wyoma Davis McGilvery and James McGilvery, Sr. on January 20, 1945, in Marshall, TX.

Ed served in the United States Army where ranked, E4 specialist and received honors in marksmanship as a sharpshooter. Upon honorable discharge from the United States Army, Ed served as a welder and general contractor until retirement.

Edwin received his education from Marshall Public Schools. He was 1963 graduate of H. B. Pemberton High School. He furthered his education at Wiley College and TSTC where he received his welding and CDL certifications.

He married the Love of his life, the late Patricia “Patsy” McGilvery of 35 years.

Ed attended Jerusalem Baptist Church. He faithfully read and studied the Bible.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia “Patsy" McGilvery; father, James McGilvery, Sr.; mother, Wyoma Davis McGilvery; brothers, Willie and Elbert McGilvery; grandsons, Kevin Parish and Michael Jenkins.

Edwin leaves to cherish his memory: brothers, James McGilvery, Jr of Dallas, TX and Floyd Smith of Denver, CO; daughters, Jacqueline McCowan, Brenda Joyce Gatson (George) of Marshall, TX; sons, Michael Wayne Parish of Dallas, TX and Torrance Webb of Marshall, TX; grandchildren Emory McCowan, Roderick Wheeler, Nichole Donahue, Tressa Jenkins, Kenyatta Webb, Myisha Webb, DraMarcus Webb, Briana Parish, Keyana Parish, Kaden Parish, LaTea Buchanan, Tamia Buchanan; sisters-in-law, Betty Smith, Wanda Reeves, Mary Reeves, Sharon Smith, Robbie Reeves; brother-in-law, Charles “Charlie” Snowden; 27 great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
