Earl Lester Scott was born November 29, 1940 in Houston, Texas to the parents of Robert Lee Scott and Mary Lour Scott.

He attended Bruce Elementary and graduated from Phyllis Wheatley High School in 1959. He accepted Christ at an early age and attended Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. He later became a member of Windsor Village United Methodist Church in Houston, Texas. After moving to Marshall, Texas, he joined Macedonia Baptist Church. He served as a faithful member and deacon until death.

Earl volunteered at Christus Good Shepherd in Marshall, Texas and the New Town Neighborhood Association. He was also a member of the Community Bible Study group at Edwards Chapel Baptist Church.

He retired from Union Pacific Railroad after 40+ years.

Earl united in marriage with Linda Hurd Scott on May 14, 1995.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, L.E. Culpepper, Leo Culpepper, Robert L. Scott, Jr., and Hubert B. Scott; one sister, Marie Scott Parker; his daughter, Stephanie Roberts, and grandson, Trevor Tubbs.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Linda Hurd Scott; sons, Brian Smith (Barbara), Jason Arthur (Audrey); grandkids, Chelsea Tubbs, Casea Tubbs, Brian Smith, Micah, Smith, Dylan Arthur and Ethan Arthur; great grandchildren, Crystal Jones, Riley Tubbs, Autumn Murdock, and Aubria Murdock; a special cousin, Christine and Cathy August; several special friends and a host of nieces, nephews and other family.
