Obituary for Douglas Epps Sr.

Douglas Wayne Epps, Sr., 66, was born in Longview, Texas to Leatrice and Geraldine Epps on April,13,1956. He was a loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend to many.

At an early age, Douglas accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior, and was baptized by the late Reverend A. W. Wright Sr., at Ebenezer Baptist Church.

Douglas attended schools in the Marshall Independent School District. After attending school, Douglas chose a path of service and served in the United States Army from April 1974 to June 1977.

He was united in Holy Matrimony to Mrs. Sandra Robinson-Epps in 1991.

Douglas was a truck driver by profession and worked for Lone Star Steel in Lone Star, Texas for many years. Being behind the wheel on the open road is what he loved.

Douglas loved his family. He especially loved having a good time with those around him. He was always good for a few laughs. His presence was always felt, and his spirit will remain with us.

On Tuesday, February 21, 2023, the Lord called Douglas home. He left a loving and devoted wife, and was greeted at Heaven’s gates with wide open arms by his father, Leatrice Epps, mother, Geraldine Epps, brother Eddie Ray Epps, and brother Ricky Lynn Epps.

Left to cherish his memories are his loving, devoted wife, Sandra Epps; children Devona Epps-Johnson (Shonti), Douglas Wayne Epps Jr.; bonus children, Zemeka Williams, Roshundra Robinson-Bailey (Demarcus), and Oris Mitchell (Ashera); brother, Johnny Epps Sr. (Renee); 12 grandchildren that he absolutely adored; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifelong friends.
