Obituary for Chester Anthony

Chester Anthony was born January 25th, 1956 in Marshall, TX. He was preceded in death by his Father, James Anthony, Sr. and his Mother, Mary Ingram – Anthony. His brothers, James Anthony, Jr., Asa Lee Anthony, and Christopher Anthony. Along with his sisters Stella Lois Walker and Maxine Morgan.

At an early age, he attended Edward’s Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, Marshall, TX. As a growing young man, he completed his early education within the Marshall Public School System. He received his high school diploma from Marshall High in May 1975. While at Marshall High School, he was a 4 – year Varsity Letterman Linebacker, where he would occasionally meet up with Earl Campbell on the gridiron during his time at John Tyler HS. Also, during his time in high school, he met his high school sweetheart and wife, Charlotte Cole, Class of 1976.

After graduation, Chester moved to Dallas where he worked for a few years before attending Texas State Technical Institute (TSTC) in Waco, TX. At TSTI, he earned his associate degree in Instrumentation Technology in 1980.

Shortly after receiving his degree, he moved to Bay City, TX, where he started his career in instrumentation at Celanese Chemical Company and would go on to do various Contractor work in Instrumentation. In addition to his career, Chester also ventured into other business opportunities including being a certified barber, an income tax preparer, and became an entrepreneur when he started his own Commercial Cleaning Service.

Within a year of moving to Bay City, Chester would go on to marry Charlotte Cole in August 1981. They moved to Houston and started a family and built a life together. They raised two daughters, Chandre’ Nicole and Rhiana Michele. He encouraged his girls to play sports, dance, and taught them how to fish.

Chester enlisted in the Army National Guard. He was honorably discharged after serving .
As a member of the community, he attended Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church in Dickinson, TX, where he served faithfully as an usher until illness struck in 2014.

In his spare time, Chester loved all sports, especially football, baseball, and basketball. His favorite past times included fishing, crabbing, and playing games like competitive darts, spades and dominoes.

He is survived in death by his wife of 39 years, Charlotte Cole Anthony, his two daughters, Chandre’ Anthony, (Houston, TX) and Rhiana Anthony, (New Orleans, Louisian), his son, Chaz Anthony (Houston, TX) and his brother, Willie Anthony, Sr. (Mary) (Marshall, TX), along with numerous in laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
